TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Hastings, Nebraska, 68901!

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: BSN Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Chest tube experience preferred - Pain management experience - TPN, CBI, and wound care experience - Charge nurse experience is a plus Description: Department: Medical Surgical This unit has 30 private beds with an average census of 20. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:4-6. Common diagnoses include dementia, post-surgical care, falls, influenza, pneumonia, failure to thrive, cancer patients, and COVID-19. Nurses are not required to titrate drips. Charge nurses will take patients and may work in a charge role if they have the experience. There are typically 2-3 nurse aides on the unit. Respiratory therapy equipment is available, including CPAP support. Telemetry and monitor technicians are present on the unit. Shifts are 12 hours, scheduled from 7 PM to 7 AM, with no self-scheduling. Travelers will fill in gaps in the schedule as needed. Weekend requirements are generally every third weekend, but flexibility is expected. Holiday requirements are every third holiday with the expectation of working one winter holiday. There is no call or standby requirement, except for when staff requests to have their scheduled shift off or if they volunteer to cancel. Floating to Progressive Care Unit may occur, taking Medical Surgical overflow or very low acuity patients. The dress code is solid color scrubs with no patterns or designs. Two days of nursing department orientation and one day on the floor is provided. Charting system used is EPIC.
