Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Staffing Resources Float Pool Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an ICU setting License: Not specified Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Clinician must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to contract signing. - If the clinician fails to score 80% in two attempts, they will be DNU for six months. - Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the health system within the past year. Description: Unit is a Float Pool that includes various care areas. Clinicians will float to ICU, MedSurg, Telemetry, and Progressive Care Units across multiple campuses. Units will also include inpatients holding in the emergency department. Average patient census may vary across different areas. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 in Progressive Care Units and 1:5-6 in MedSurg Telemetries. Common diagnoses include geriatric patients, orthopedic patients, and post-procedural individuals from cardiac catheterization. Experience with managing titratable drips, including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin is required. Charge nurses will not take assignments and there will be nurse aids available to assist in the units. Utilization of respiratory equipment like CPAP or BiPAP is expected in appropriate settings. Registered nurses must be capable of interpreting telemetry strips; monitor techs will support in select areas. Scheduling will be done by the staff scheduler, with shifts published six weeks in advance. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary as float pool clinicians may have varying assignments. Every other weekend will be required along with working two of three major holidays. There will be a standby requirement on occasion when staffing allows for it. Units will assign shifts by notifying staff two hours prior to the start via text message. Scrub color will align with current guidelines, requiring solid-color professional scrubs.
