Description

Job Title: Medical Surgical RN Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years preferred License: Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Epic experience preferred Description: FLOAT REQUIRED TO ALL LOCATIONS. Please note the shift times for other locations: - Shift times may vary by location. Experience required: 2 years. Epic experience preferred; first-time travelers not accepted unless they have 3-5 years of experience. Required weekend shifts to equal 1 per week of contact. This may be every other weekend or spread across weekends. Certifications required: BLS, NIHSS preferred. Candidates should be prepared to float across all medical surgical units. May be assigned as primary RN or as a 1:1 observer in any clinical department. Floating may include any department, including emergency care for boarding medical surgical patients. Local candidates are not accepted unless they are outside a specified radius of the facility. No pending licenses accepted. Candidates must have no employment gaps greater than 30 days within the required work history. Patient demographics include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Daily census metrics are not available. Examples of diagnoses seen across medical surgical departments include COPD, stroke, total joint, sepsis, colorectal surgery, bariatric surgery, pneumonia, trauma, altered mental status, renal failure, bowel obstruction, oncology, and withdrawal. Interdisciplinary support may include IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretaries. Patient ratios are 4 during days and 5 during nights. Required weekend shifts equal 1 per week of contract, which may be spread across weekends. References must be from positions held within the past year, with at least one reference from a manager. Epic experience is strongly preferred. Candidates without Epic experience may be considered for difficult-to-fill positions. Candidates who cancel an assignment with fewer than 14 days' notice will be designated as Do Not Return. Module requirements vary by specialty. Module time completion is non-billable if completed within the first 8 hours of orientation.
