Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 16 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Medical Surgical License: Pending license accepted Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: IV skills and phlebotomy experience Description: This position requires a Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgical specialty. The candidate must provide excellent care to patients. Strong documentation skills are essential. Teamwork and collaboration are important for this role. IV skills and phlebotomy are required competencies. The nurse will be responsible for patient ratios of 1:4-6. Candidates should have a background in medical-surgical nursing. This unit deals with diagnoses such as ostomy care, colon resection, colon cancer, and bladder cancer. Skills required include telemetry remote monitoring, blood product administration, central line management, and peripheral line care. The nurse will handle feeding tube care and management and perform tasks related to PCA and insulin administration. Knowledge of interpretation and management of dysrhythmias is necessary. The unit administers various drips including heparin and amiodarone. Additional responsibilities include managing colostomy care and continuous bladder irrigation. Interdisciplinary support is provided by various teams, including IV support, physical therapy, and social services. Travelers are expected to float within the service line as needed. All candidates should be prepared for patient care in a high-turnover surgery unit. No new requests for time off will be allowed after submission.
