Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Med/Surg License: Pending license accepted Certifications: BLS, ACLS, BSN Must-Have: - IV skills and phlebotomy - Excellent documentation skills - Ability to work as a team Description: This position is focused on providing excellent care to patients. Candidates must have strong documentation skills. Teamwork and collaboration are essential. IV skills and phlebotomy experience are required. Two years of Med/Surg experience are necessary. Patient ratios will be 1:4-6. Experience in telemetry and colostomy care is needed. Feeding tube care and management knowledge is required. Candidates should be proficient in blood product administration and peripheral line care. PICC line management and starting IVs are also necessary. Knowledge of heparin, insulin, and PCA management is required. Candidates must pass an EKG exam for interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. This unit administers various drips, including heparin, lidocaine (for pain only), bicarb, bivalirudin, and amiodarone (stable non-titrated) occasionally. Centralized telemetry knowledge is preferred. Special procedures include foleys and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI). Protocols for colorectal patients will be followed. The patient population includes those with ostomies, colon resection, colon cancer, bladder cancer, GU issues, and medical overflow. Interdisciplinary support from various teams is available.
