Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 34-bed Cardiac Renal Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit serving a patient population that includes post-cardiac procedure patients (heart cath, ablation, pacemaker), A-fib RVR, ESRD, CHF, sepsis, tracheostomies, nephrostomy tubes, CBI, renal biopsy, and behavioral health/detox cases
• Perform continuous telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKG interpretation; travelers will be required to pass telemetry competency tests
• Manage drip medications including cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone) and other infusions (Heparin, Lasix, Protonix); perform recovery of heart caths using femoral and TR bands
• Utilize CBI, CIWA/detox protocols, chest tube and indwelling drain management, central line care, and PIV insertion
• Float within skillset as needed, including to a sister campus approximately 8 miles away and potentially to a Kentucky campus approximately 11 miles away; 2-hour notice provided for cross-campus float
• May be required to precept nursing students and new hires in this teaching facility environment

Required Qualifications

• Active, current compact RN license - required
• AHA BLS certification required
• AHA ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum of two years of strong cardiac/telemetry nursing experience
• At least one prior travel nursing assignment and Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
• Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Strong cardiac assessment and critical thinking skills with demonstrated ability to manage high-acuity patients
• Experience with CIWA/detox protocols and behavioral health patient populations
• Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic, fast-paced unit environment with float expectations
• Ability to work three weekends per six-week schedule and every other holiday
