- Weekly Pay:$2,100 to $2,290
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients
- Perform thorough head-to-toe assessments and monitor patients for changes in condition
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments safely
- Monitor vital signs, pain levels, neurological status, respiratory status, and other clinical indicators
- Manage IV lines, central lines, drains, catheters, wound care, and other patient-care devices
- Identify early signs of deterioration and promptly communicate concerns to physicians and the clinical team
- Assist with admissions, transfers, procedures, treatments, and discharge activities
- Provide post-operative and wound care according to patient needs and provider orders
- Educate patients and families about medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, recovery, and discharge instructions
- Promote fall prevention, infection control, mobility, nutrition, hydration, and patient safety
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, CNAs, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
- Respond appropriately to rapid responses, emergencies, and changes in patient condition
- Support discharge planning and continuity of care
- Follow facility policies, infection prevention procedures, HIPAA requirements, and patient safety standards
Qualifications
- Active Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Minimum 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience
- Current BLS Certification required
- Current ACLS Certification preferred or required by facility
- Strong knowledge of adult medical-surgical nursing principles
- Experience with medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, and patient assessment
- Strong clinical judgment and critical-thinking skills
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to work independently and effectively during night shifts
