Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Active state license required Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Experience in pre- and post-operative neurosurgery care - Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias - Proficiency in peripheral line care and management - Familiarity with telemetry and surgical drains Description: The position involves caring for patients in a medical-surgical unit specializing in neurosurgery. This unit cares for pre- and post-operative cranial and spinal surgery patients, as well as general neurology and stroke patients. Common procedures include managing intermittently drained lumbar and surgical drains. The unit does not handle drips requiring titration, except for Heparin. Patients with tracheostomies, EVDs, fresh TPA administration, or arterial lines are not admitted. Travelers will float within their service line as needed. Accountability for a patient ratio of 1:4-6. Completion of relevant assessments and documentation is expected. The team is supported by interdisciplinary services including IV therapy, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more. Commitment to safety and innovative patient care practices is required.
