Job Title: Nursing - RN Medical Center Profession: Nursing Specialty: RN Medical Center Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of MedSurg experience License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Chest tube management Stable trach management IV skills Knowledge of CPAP/BiPAP/Airvo Foley insertion/care Feeding tube management Cardiac rhythm interpretation Experience with titrating drips EPIC experience Description: This is a Float Pool position. Travelers will be required to float to various units within the hospital. The units will include areas with MedSurg patients. Patient types include both general medical surgical oncology patients and orthopedic/neuro patients. General Medical Surgical: Patients may include those with conditions such as cellulitis, GI bleeds, CHF, and COPD. Outpatient infusions will include antibiotics and fluids. Ortho/Neuro observation patients may present with chest pain, dizziness, or syncope. Surgical patients may have undergone procedures such as gallbladders, appendectomies, and colectomies. Neuro patients may include those who have experienced spine surgeries or strokes. Cardiac patients will encompass those who are post-procedure for interventions such as catheterizations and cardioversions. General cardiac conditions may include heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias. Patient ratios: Days: 1:4-6 Nights: 1:6 Support on the unit will include a healthcare unit coordinator available days and a charge nurse who may take patient assignments. Phlebotomy is available for peripheral lab draws. Respiratory therapy support is provided 24/7. There will be a hospitalist available 24/7 for patient management. Charting will be conducted using an electronic medical record system, requiring experience with EPIC. The scheduling will involve a weekend rotation every other weekend. Shift times will be from 1845-0715 and 0645-1915. Schedules are created 4-6 weeks in advance and will be communicated with two weeks' notice. There may be a strong emphasis on teamwork within the work culture. This position requires a flexible approach as floating to different units will be common. Travelers are encouraged to communicate any requests regarding scheduling.
