Description:
Level 1 Trauma Center.
Level II NICU.
Teaching Client.
Magnet Designation.
Primary Stroke Center.
General patient types include oncology, general surgery, and medical.
Patient ratios are typically 1:5, with the possibility of 1:6.
The 6th patient is rotated.
Support on the unit includes a receptionist and healthcare unit coordinator.
The charge nurse rarely has a patient assignment during the day.
The charge nurse may take a patient assignment from 2300-0700.
Phlebotomy services are available.
IV/VAT team is available until 2200.
Respiratory therapy is available 24/7.
Clientist services are available 24/7.
Telemetry monitoring is centralized with telemetry technicians.
EMR system used is EPIC and is required for this role.
IV pumps and medication dispensing systems are utilized.
Floating may occur to other medical/surgical floors.
Weekend rotation is every other weekend.
Holiday expectations are rotating.
Approval for time off must go through the manager.
Shift times are from 1900-0700.
Scheduling cycle is every 6 weeks.
Scrub color is navy blue for nurses.
Certified Nursing Assistants wear teal scrubs.
