Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1.5 years of MedSurg or PCU experience required. License: Michigan RN License required. Certifications: BLS and NIH required. Must-Have: Strong post-surgical competencies required. Telemetry and remote monitoring skills required. Colostomy care, feeding tube care, and management skills required. Pre/Post hemodialysis management skills required. Accessing ports and blood product administration skills required. Peripheral line care/management and PICC line management skills required. Starting IVs and managing heparin and insulin required. Surgical drain and chest tube management skills required. High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and nasal cannula management required. Non-invasive airway management and oral suctioning skills required. Oxygen face mask administration and portable oxygen tank management required. Tracheostomy management skills required. Isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac skills required. Description: Holiday coverage is required. Any requests for time off during holidays must remain flexible to accommodate staffing demands. 36 or 48-hour shifts available; please indicate preference in submission. Call requirement: none. Weekend requirement: required every other weekend. Holidays are required. Travelers will float to other medical surgical, ICU, and emergency departments as needed. Must be comfortable with patient ratios (1:6) which may flex higher. Support staff will be on-site in rare situations. Daily patient census is approximately 47. Interdisciplinary support available includes physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, and pharmacy. Typical patient diagnoses include general surgery cases such as appendectomies, cholecystectomies, bowel surgeries, and gynecological procedures, along with some medical overflow patients.
