The unit is an extension of the medical/surgical units. It is essential to have observation unit experience. The patient population primarily includes geriatric and adult patients. Common diagnoses include End-Stage Renal Disease, Peritoneal Dialysis, and Hemodialysis. The unit has 24 beds with patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:6. Key equipment includes vital signs machines, bladder scanners, lifts, thermal imaging, and IV pumps/tubes. The electronic health record system used is Cerner. The supervisor for the unit is an RN. This role requires working at least two weekend shifts per month. There are no call requirements for this position. It is expected that candidates have a minimum of one year of experience, with two years preferred.
