Travel Registered Nurse - Renal Medical-Surgical
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join a dynamic 21-bed Renal Medical-Surgical unit at a facility in Zanesville, Ohio. This high-acuity unit specializes in providing comprehensive care to adult patients with acute and chronic kidney disease, post-dialysis needs, and a variety of complex medical-surgical conditions.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment with high patient turnover, demonstrating confidence in managing renal-related complications and diverse patient populations. This role requires continuous monitoring, frequent assessments, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to adult renal and medical-surgical patients.
- Manage and monitor patients with acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, and post-dialysis requirements.
- Accurately monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry.
- Collaborate effectively with nephrologists, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Float as needed within scope of practice to similar Medical-Surgical units, including Wound Care, Stroke, Oncology, Cardiac, Observation, and units housing Emergency Department boarders.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio (required at time of submission).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent, acute care experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry settings.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system; no training will be provided.
- Ability to successfully pass a telemetry competency test on Day 1 of the assignment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a Renal Medical-Surgical unit or with patients requiring renal-specific care.
Skills & Competencies
- Clinical Skills: Advanced knowledge of renal disease management, post-dialysis care, acute and chronic medical-surgical conditions, cardiac telemetry monitoring and interpretation.
- Equipment Proficiency: Epic EMR.
- Soft Skills: Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, adaptability, efficiency, excellent communication, and ability to perform effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Shift Details
- Shift Type: Nights (NOC)
- Hours: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Days Per Week: 3 days per week (36 hours total)
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend required.
- Call Requirements: No on-call requirement.
- Contract Length: 13 weeks.
- Start Date: September 21, 2026.
Licensing Requirements
- Active Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
