Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: Must have 2 years of Medical Surgical experience. Proficient with central lines, NG tube management, ostomies, and drain management. Professional communication skills required. Experience with catheter management preferred. Description: The unit consists of 35 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity. An acuity tool is used to balance patient assignments in real-time. Common diagnoses include multiple specialty cases, such as bariatric, urology, colorectal, vascular, acute care, gynecological, and plastic surgery. The unit specializes in surgery and accommodates several medical patients. Charge nurses are available each shift; they do not carry a patient assignment. Unit leadership is provided by assistant nurse managers and managers, with on-call leadership available during nights and weekends. Nurse aides are present with a ratio of 1:8-10. Utilization of CPAP, high flow, and BiPAP equipment may occur occasionally, with higher-level care for BiPAP-dependent patients. Remote telemetry monitoring is available; RNs are required to read telemetry strips. Scheduling includes 12-hour shifts with a focus on work-life balance. Weekend shifts are scheduled every other week, and additional holiday shifts may be required. RNs may need to float to similar units when necessary, with travelers being the first to float. There is no specific dress code, but scrubs must be clean and professional. Unit-specific orientation and didactic days will be provided to familiarize staff with unit operations. Travelers are expected to maintain a reasonable distance from the location to comply with a radius rule.
