The RN supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff. The RN coordinates care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment. Education and work experience include a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred and acute care facility experience preferred. The RN develops a plan that prescribes interventions to attain outcomes and implements the plan while coordinating care delivery. The RN provides learning opportunities for patients, family members, and team members. Health information is directly provided to patients, families, and the treatment team. Participation in E-Verify is included. This is a post-surgical unit with a total bed count of 29, and staffing ratios are typically 1:4 or 1:5. Call is not required, but floating to other departments may be necessary when staffing needs require it. The unit utilizes a medication system and a documentation system. Support from IV teams and patient mobility teams is available. Phlebotomy and transportation services operate 24/7, with unit secretarial support available around the clock. Scrubs must be navy blue.
