Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN - Med/Surg Specialty: RN - Med/Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Registered Nurse licensure in the state of practice required Certifications: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor required Must-Have: EPIC experience required Description: This position delivers coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. The RN supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff. The RN coordinates care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment. Education and work experience include a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred and acute care facility experience preferred. Essential functions include collecting relevant data pertinent to the patient's health or situation and analyzing assessment data to determine diagnosis and care issues. The RN develops a plan that prescribes interventions to attain outcomes and implements the plan while coordinating care delivery. Strategies to promote health and safety are employed, and progress toward attaining outcomes is evaluated. Outcomes for the patient or the patient's situation are identified, and collaboration with the team of patients, families, and healthcare providers is essential. The RN provides learning opportunities for patients, family members, and team members. Health information is directly provided to patients, families, and the treatment team. Participation in discharge planning is necessary to provide continuity of care. The RN delegates appropriately and coordinates the duties of healthcare team members. Other job-related duties may be assigned. All associates are required to receive all requested vaccinations as a condition of employment, with applicable medical and religious exemptions. Participation in E-Verify is included. This is a post-surgical unit with a total bed count of 29, and staffing ratios are typically 1:4 or 1:5. Call is not required, but floating to other departments may be necessary when staffing needs require it. The unit utilizes a medication system and a documentation system. Support from IV teams and patient mobility teams is available. Phlebotomy and transportation services operate 24/7, with unit secretarial support available around the clock. Scrubs must be navy blue.
