Job Title: Med Surg Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical-Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - BLS Certification Description: General Comments: This is a medical-surgical unit with 36 beds. There are 55 staff members on the unit. Day shift includes 1 Clinical Coordinator, 6 RNs, 3 techs, and 1 unit secretary. Night shift includes 1 Clinical Coordinator, 6 RNs, and 2 techs. Patient ratios on the unit are 1:6. The unit is equipped with Baxter IV pumps, Medfusion pumps, and SCDs. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech. The most recruited skill set is for travel RNs. Candidates must have BLS certification; those without this will not be considered for the role. Preferred skills include familiarity with post-operative patients. Competency in dressing changes, wound care, and drain management is preferred. Typical procedures performed on the unit include care of post-operative patients, maintaining drains, and providing wound care. The ideal personality fit is a team player with a positive attitude. Strong patient advocacy skills are essential. Candidates should be able to work in a fast-paced environment. The dress code consists of navy blue or white scrubs. Hoodies, pull-overs, or T-shirts are not permitted. The unit is known for top patient experience scores, measured through patient satisfaction surveys.
