Experience with surgical population preferred. Description: Hiring Process: Candidate interview with the clinical team only. No unit manager involvement. Candidates must submit a driver's license. During the week of orientation, clinicians should be in-state even if modules are completed remotely. The surgical care unit has 28 beds. Nurse-patient ratios are 1:4-5 days and 1:5-6 nights. RNs are required to titrate drips. Common titratable drips include analgesics for pain management, anticoagulants for blood clots, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control. The unit is monitored by tele techs in a central monitoring room. Charge nurses do take an assignment. There are nurse aides present on the unit. Respiratory Equipment includes NC up to 6L, CPAP, BiPAP for night use only. Self-scheduling and block scheduling are allowed. Full and part-time employees are expected to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule. Holiday requirements are also in effect. Floating requirements are determined by departmental needs. If necessary, float within the designated zone may occur. Scrub color is navy blue. Unit-specific orientation will be assigned during the orientation week. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC. A BSN is not required for this position. ACLS and BLS certifications are required.
