Description:
The registered nurse position involves providing care on a medical surgical unit.
The unit serves a variety of patients including those with stroke, spine, neuro trauma, and general medical-surgical conditions.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 or 1:5 during days and 1:5 or 1:6 on nights.
RNs are required to read telemetry strips, as there are centrally monitored telemetry systems in place.
Moderate oxygen needs may be present among patients.
Self-scheduling and block scheduling are allowed.
Full and part-time employees must self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts within a six-week schedule.
Holiday requirements exist for all employees.
Floating to other units may be required based on departmental needs.
Charge nurses do not take an assignment on this unit.
There are nurse aides available, with a ratio of 1:12.
The care setting is defined as acute care.
Familiarity with common medications including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives is necessary.
The charting system utilized is EPIC.
