Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Float Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years required License: Nursing license required; pending license accepted (must obtain prior to starting) Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - Must be willing to float to other medical surgical units as needed. - Must submit all requests for time off with submission. - Weekend shifts required every other weekend. Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgical specialty. This role involves caring for post-surgical patients in a medical surgical unit. The nurse will work on a night shift schedule. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:6. The nurse will provide care to adult and geriatric patients. Daily census in the unit averages 22 patients. The unit has a total of 28 beds. Interdisciplinary support is available from various teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Key skills required for this role include management of central lines, administration of blood products, and wound care. The nurse will also be responsible for telemetry monitoring and patient education. Candidates are expected to adhere to infection control protocols and participate in patient assessments. The role requires adaptability and the ability to float as needed to support the unit's staffing needs. Experience with electronic medical record systems is preferred.
