Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to adult surgical patients on a 12-bed Surgical Short Stay unit, with most patients admitted from PACU and staying less than 24 hours
  • Care for pre-operative patients and inpatient surgical admissions as census and staffing needs require
  • Float as needed to inpatient surgery floors, inpatient holding areas, or medical floors
  • Operate and monitor specialized equipment including CBI, Doppler ultrasound, BD Alaris Infusion Systems (Large Volume Pump and PCA Module), JP drains, and wound vac systems
  • Manage patients across multiple surgical service lines including colorectal, orthopedic, neurologic, gynecologic, urologic, vascular, and others
  • Participate in storm or disaster response teams as assigned; may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or facility-wide consolidations
Required Qualifications
  • Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state (pending license acceptable for submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience required
  • Surgical Short Stay experience required
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Must be able to work every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night shifts) and a minimum of 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Must be open to floating within and near the facility as described
  • Candidates located within 50 miles of the facility are eligible; please note that a local rate applies
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Experience with Epic EMR preferred
