Job Opportunity – Surgical Short Stay Registered Nurse – North Carolina
Start Date: November 2, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Schedule: 3x12 night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM | 13-26 week contract available | Every other weekend required (12 weekend night shifts per contract) | Float required as needed to inpatient surgery floors, holding areas, or medical floors
Highlights:
- 12-bed specialized unit caring for adult surgical patients with less than 24-hour stays, pre-op patients, and inpatient surgical admissions
- Diverse case mix including colorectal, endoscopic, general, GYN, maxillofacial, neurologic, orthopedic, plastic, urologic, and vascular surgical patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 across all shifts
- EPIC charting system preferred; 24 hours of orientation provided
- Experience with specialized equipment including BD Alaris Infusion Systems, wound vac systems, JP drains, and CBI
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
Requirements:
- Active North Carolina or Compact RN license
- ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience required
- Short stay or 23-hour observation unit experience required
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- EPIC experience preferred
- First-time travelers accepted
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Ability to work holidays and storm/hurricane team assignments as needed
- Maximum 7 days of requested time off per contract (no holiday requests)
