Description:
This is a Medical Surgical RN position.
RTO after booking is not allowed and is not able to be worked out onsite.
Any call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation.
The required skills include BLS certification.
Two years of experience in nursing is required.
First-time travelers are accepted.
CPI certification is preferred.
Charge nurse experience preferred for night shift travelers.
The shift will be 12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15.
Both 36 and 48-hour contracts are accepted.
Longer contracts through 2/27/2026 may be considered.
Call will be required as needed.
Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations.
Every other weekend is required.
Candidates must be able to work holidays.
The patient ratio will be 1:6.
Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a storm team and/or hurricane team.
Contract staff may be required to report to work during catastrophic events or disasters.
Consolidation to a centralized office may occur mid-contract, and staff may be preassigned to units as needed.
All staff are required to attend unit team meetings.
Meetings are scheduled for the 4th Wednesday of each month from January through October.
In November and December, meetings will be on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.
Additional meetings for night shift staff will occur the Friday immediately following the Wednesday meetings.
The unit provides care for adults and geriatrics with general medical/surgical needs.
Daily census is approximately 43 patients.
Special procedures include heparin drips, wound vacuum dressing changes, and high flow oxygen.
Short-term use of BiPap with respiratory support may occur; no additional training is needed.
This unit does not manage PCU-level patients.
Charting systems used include PYXIS and EPIC.
Ideal candidates will have a teamwork approach and meet behavioral expectations.
Adherence to the call-off policy is strongly enforced.
Candidates must be open to floating within or near the facility as per job description.
Travel pairs are allowed provided they are on different units and disclosed.
Pre-start modules must be completed online prior to starting.
Modules take approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles and 4-5 hours for non-acute care.
Completion of modules is required pre-start and annually, varying by specialty.
