Must-Have:
Able to perform basic patient assessments.
Ability to provide general care and maintenance for wounds, tracheostomy, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, strokes, and seizures.
Experience with patient populations requiring dialysis or PCA pumps.
Familiarity with Heparin drip.
Experience with post-operative procedures including amputations, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, oral surgeries, and wound vacs.
Description:
This position is for a registered nurse in a medical-surgical setting.
The unit consists of 36 beds with patient ratios of 1:4 or 1:5.
A secretary is available every day, with PRN techs on call.
Equipment includes PD cyclers, Welch Allyn vital sign carts, Hoyer lifts, Broda chairs, and Alaris IV pumps.
Documentation is managed through a specified system.
Scheduling requires four weekend shifts in a four-week block.
Floating over core staff may be required.
Patient experience involves bedside shift reporting, safety checks every 1-2 hours, and a focus on communication and responsiveness.
The team values great teamwork and is eager to complete tasks that enhance patient outcomes.
Charges are supportive and experienced, allowing for smooth integration into the team.
All candidates will be treated as core staff and held to the same level of accountability and recognition for their work.
Policies include HAI prevention, CVC and Foley monitoring with standard precautions, and fall prevention.
Medication scanning is required, including for controlled substances.
Attendance must meet established policies.
Dress code requires scrubs in navy, blue, white, black, gray, or ceil blue.
Unit guidelines and policies will be provided.
