General care and maintenance of wounds, tracheostomy, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, strokes, and seizures.
Ability to manage patient populations requiring dialysis or PCA pumps.
Familiarity with administering Heparin drip.
Description:
The unit has a total of 36 beds with patient ratios of 1:4 or 1:5.
Unit staffing includes a secretary every day and PRN techs.
Equipment on the unit includes PD cyclers, Welch Allyn VS carts, Hoyer lift, Broda chairs, and Alaris IV pumps.
Documentation is conducted using Meditech.
Scheduling requires 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week block.
Floating may occur over core staff.
Patient experience emphasizes bedside shift reporting, safety checks every 1-2 hours, and a focus on communication and responsiveness.
Post-operative procedures involve amputations, ostomy care, drains, chest tubes, oral surgeries, and wound vacs.
Dress code requires scrubs in navy, blue, white, black, gray, or ceil blue.
Unit guidelines include HAI prevention, CVC and Foley monitoring with standard precautions, fall prevention, DCL lounge, and throughput at 100%.
Medication scanning is required, including for controlled substances.
Attendance must adhere to policy.
The team is supportive and eager to enhance patient outcomes.
Leadership provides smooth integration into the unit.
