The unit has 18-20 beds and a staff of approximately 35. Day shifts consist of 1 charge nurse, 2-3 nurses, 1 LPN, and 1-3 PCTs. Night shifts consist of 1 charge nurse, 3 nurses, 1 LPN, and 1-2 PCTs. The patient ratio is 6:1 when an LPN is present. Common equipment used includes Hoyer lifts, air taps, wound vacs, and PCA pumps. The EMR system used is Meditech. Ideal candidates should be team players with a positive attitude. Preferred skills include burn care experience, and wound and ostomy care experience. Typical procedures performed in this unit include wound and dressing care for post-operative patients.
