Description:
This position is for a Med/Surg unit specializing in orthopedic and neurology patient populations.
The nurse will provide care for adult and geriatric patients.
The daily census is approximately 30 patients.
Patient ratios are 5:1 for days and nights.
Weekend shifts are required.
A free floating charge nurse is available on the unit.
Staffing includes patient care technicians and transporters.
Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and phlebotomy.
The unit is equipped to handle patients with traumatic brain injuries and those undergoing total joint replacements.
Wound care management, including the use of wound vac systems, is part of the responsibilities.
Nurses are expected to manage patients experiencing substance withdrawal.
Isolation precautions and PPE adherence are required.
Nursing activities may include non-invasive airway management and peripheral line care.
