Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience required License: State or Compact license Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Travel experience preferred Epic charting experience required Patient ratio experience of 1:6 Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical Surgical care. The shift consists of three 12-hour days, working from 07:00 to 19:00. The unit handles a diverse patient population, ranging from young adults to geriatrics. The nurse will be responsible for providing care to patients with a variety of medical needs. The unit provides telemetry capabilities, allowing for the monitoring of patients’ heart rates and rhythms. Patient care includes managing and administering medications, IVs, and various treatments. The nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. The role requires skills in accessing and managing ports, administering blood products, and wound care. Additional responsibilities include monitoring patients, managing dysrhythmias, and executing isolation precautions. The nurse will also handle feeding tube care and patient education as needed. Weekend shifts will be required, amounting to half of the scheduled shifts. The unit operates with a patient-to-nurse ratio of six patients per nurse.
