Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 05:00-17:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Med Surg License: RN License required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Basics of patient care Normal limits for vital signs and lab values Proficient in medication administration and controlled substance knowledge Advanced skills in NG/NJ tubes, chest tubes, and heparin drip Description: The facility has a medical unit with 26 beds and patient ratios of 6:1. Technicians are available for assistance on the unit. Equipment includes hoyers, rolling computers, and rolling vital sign monitors. The documentation system used is Meditech. Scheduling requirements include four weekend shifts per month. There is a floating policy that allows staff to float to surgical or acute rehab units. Preferred experience includes some background in Med Surg. Additional procedures performed on the unit include heart procedures in the cath lab. Candidates should have the ability to manage patients returning from these procedures. The dress code requires navy blue scrubs for both tops and bottoms. The unit has received a safety catch award and multiple Daisy awards for excellence in nursing. The team environment is supportive, with a positive attitude towards new staff members. Staff is encouraged to work collaboratively and seek assistance when needed.
