Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Must hold a valid RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Competence in rhythm strip interpretation - Ability to initiate and maintain cardiac drips such as dobutamine, amiodarone, and cardizem - Responsibility for all aspects of tracheostomy care and management Description: The Registered Nurse will work in a Medical Surgical setting. Ratios may vary, typically 1:6, and could go to 1:8 at times. The RN will be expected to work every other weekend. Floating may be required to other units as needed. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. Common diagnoses in this unit include myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, cerebrovascular accidents, syncope, diabetes ketoacidosis, congestive heart failure, post pacemaker, stent procedures, COVID-19, end-stage renal disease, and pulmonary embolism. Staffing includes interdisciplinary support from physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary. The RN must be proficient in blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care and management, continuous bladder irrigation, and feeding tube care and management. Team members must adhere to infection control protocols. The facility patients typically have a daily census of around 35 with 46 available beds. Continuous education and training are emphasized to maintain high standards of care and safety.
