Description:
This position is for a registered nurse in the Med Surg specialty.
The unit has 34 beds with a patient care ratio of 6:1.
Tech support is available on both day and night shifts.
Unit secretaries are present from 7 AM to 7 PM.
Equipment used on the unit includes IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse oximetry machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, and bladder scanners.
Documentation is conducted using Meditech.
Scheduling requires three 12-hour shifts per week, with two weekends included in a four-week schedule.
Contract labor staff are prioritized for floating, following a rotation if multiple contract staff are scheduled.
Staff are expected to provide attentive and compassionate care to both patients and their family members.
Bedside shift report is utilized to enhance communication.
Nurses are encouraged to make personal connections with patients and include them and their family in the plan of care.
The unit has received various certifications, including a Comprehensive Stroke certification and recognition as an ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center.
The dress code requires navy scrubs, both tops and bottoms.
