The unit is a 23-bed inpatient facility specializing in General Client, Medical Stroke, and Epilepsy Monitoring. Patient rooms are private, with one room designated as a reverse air flow room. Nine rooms are hard-wired for continuous epilepsy monitoring, a unique feature of this unit. The unit manages Medical Stroke patients and general neurology conditions including Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular diseases, seizures, and medically managed strokes. It supports spine and epilepsy programs and is involved in caring for overflow neurosurgical patients and spine surgeries. Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season, they may be assigned to emergency response teams. Hurricane season runs from June through November, with peak activity in August and September.
