Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty required License: Active nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS required Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred - Experience with high acuity patients - Ability to float as needed Description: The Registered Nurse will primarily hold assignments in a stepdown unit with occasional coverage in the ICU. The average patient ratio is 1:3 during days, nights, and weekends. Floating to other units may be required as needed. The Registered Nurse will care for a variety of critical patients, including those with acute respiratory failure, sepsis, and multi-system organ failure. Experience with arterial line management, ventilated patients, and central line care is essential. The RN should be prepared to interpret arterial blood gases and manage dysrhythmias. Special consideration for applications from first-time travelers will be given. The unit will have 2 to 3 patient care assistants depending on the shift to support the RN staff. Two charge nurses will oversee the entire unit. Strong teamwork and interdisciplinary support are essential for success in this role.
