Floating required to medical/surgical units with a patient load of up to 4 or 5 patients.
Description:
This is a Level III Trauma Center.
The unit consists of a 20-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
We care for a wide range of adult patients with diagnoses including substance abuse, severe psychiatric conditions, diabetic ketoacidosis, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleed, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock.
Attending physicians and residents are present in the ICU 24 hours a day.
The RN to patient ratio is 1:2 or 1:1 with high acuity; 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other medical/surgical areas.
The patient population is diverse.
The charting system used is electronic medical records.
Rotating shifts are required, with day rotators possibly rotated between multiple shift times.
Night shift does not rotate.
