Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts or nights only; shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on department needs; 2:1 patient ratio; weekend coverage variable based on unit needs

Highlights:

  • 24-bed Medical ICU caring for hemodynamically compromised adults and geriatric patients
  • Complex case mix including oncologic emergencies, COPD, ARDS, sepsis, GI bleeds, and pulmonary hypertension
  • Advanced treatments: mechanical ventilation, CRRT (NxStage machines), pulmonary artery catheter placement, chemotherapy administration, and plasmapheresis
  • Epic electronic health record system; 72 hours of orientation provided
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
  • Specialized equipment experience: Cortrak NG/Dobhoff placement, Alaris IV pumps, and GE monitors

Requirements:

  • Current RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent MICU or critical care experience required
  • Current acute care experience (must be actively working in specialty within the last 12 months)
  • Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Proficiency in ventilator management, IV starts, arterial line management, central line care, vasoactive drip titration, CRRT, and blood product administration
  • Education from ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • 2 professional references required (at least one from manager/director or formal leadership)
  • Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process immediately upon contract signing
