- Experience in titrating vasopressors
- Ability to manage a wide variety of vasoactive and cardioactive medications
Description:
The MICU consists of 20 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 RN to 2 patients.
Common patient diagnoses include COVID-19, sepsis, ARDS, pneumonia, AKI, alcohol withdrawal, and overdose.
RNs are required to titrate drips based on medication orders.
Charge nurses are present to assist as staffing allows, alongside a house supervisor available 24/7.
Patient care technicians are available with a ratio of 1 PCT to 10 patients.
Intensivists are in-house during the day, with telemedicine support available at night.
RNs troubleshoot respiratory equipment and are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips, monitored by telemetry technicians.
Weekend requirements include working every other weekend, both day and night shifts.
Holiday requirements may vary based on staffing needs.
Travelers may be required to float, and will take on different patient ratios depending on the unit.
There are no specific scrub colors required, but sweatshirts are not allowed.
Travelers will receive departmental specific training as part of their orientation.
