Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MICU Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years ICU/Tele experience with medical/surgical trauma/critical patients. Must have teaching hospital experience. Level 1 trauma experience is required. License: Must have a valid KY or Compact license. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required. All licenses and certifications must be in hand at the time of application. Must-Have: Must be able to work a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per schedule period. Local travelers within 100 miles are not accepted. Requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of application. Requests for time off will only be approved if submitted before the start of the assignment. No holiday RTO is accepted, and travelers should be available to work 3 out of 5 winter holidays. Description: Level one trauma experience is required. Qualified candidates must have two years of ICU/Tele experience with medical/surgical trauma and critical patients. Teaching hospital experience is necessary. First-time travelers will only be accepted if they have level 1 trauma experience. Required skills include arterial line management, assistance with chest tube insertion/removal, and BiPAP/CPAP management. Experience in the administration of blood products and care for ventilated patients is critical. Candidates should possess knowledge of central line care, continuous IV sedation, and infection prevention. Competence in the interpretation of arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias is essential. Knowledge of isolation precautions, IV insulin protocols, and management of dysrhythmias is also required. Skills in phlebotomy, PICC line management, and starting and maintaining IVs are needed. Candidates should be proficient in suctioning and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, as well as ventilator management. Daily census is 44 patients, with a patient ratio of 2 per nurse during day, night, and weekend shifts. Patient care involves conditions such as sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, multi-system organ failure, pneumonia, overdose, respiratory failure, and acute renal failure. Travel to IR, MRI, or CT may be required. Candidates will float within the facility or to a nearby affiliate hospital. Rehire eligibility will be checked weekly, and must be disclosed if previously employed at the facility. Candidates with licensure hits will not be accepted.
