Upon accepting an assignment and starting your role, you may be assigned to an "Emergency Team."
There will be an expectation to stay until after the event passes or be part of the relief team.
Specific details pertaining to pay will be relayed for each emergency event, as impacts vary.
By signing your travel contract for this position, you accept the above and will report as assigned by your unit manager if an emergency event occurs.
You should not apply for this role if you are not comfortable with the above.
Patient Diagnoses include high acuity cases and COVID care requiring pronation therapy.
Experience with CRRT is necessary.
The unit will utilize pronation therapy and vasopressor titrations.
Experience with special equipment like CRRT Dialysis is required.
You may be required to float to other units as needed.
Epic experience is preferred.
Required skills include accessing and managing ports, arterial line management, and assisting with chest tube insertion/removal.
You must also demonstrate proficiency in BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and care of ventilated patients.
Knowledge of central line care/management and both chronic and acute renal failure is essential.
Continuous IV sedation and management of dysrhythmias are required.
You should be skilled in phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, and suctioning.
Familiarity with managing patients with multi-system organ dysfunction/failure is necessary.
Patient ratios will be maintained at 2:1 for days and nights.
Weekend coverage is required.
The patient care environment will include adults and geriatrics with a daily census of approximately 32 patients.
Interdisciplinary support is provided by rapid response teams and unit secretaries.
The ICU will occasionally overflow into other surgical intensive care units.
Familiarity with additional equipment such as intra-aortic balloon pumps is preferred but not required.
