    Job Title

    Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Neuro)

    Location

    Winston-Salem, NC | Acute Care

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | 3x12 per week | Expected 36 or 48 hours per week available

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a primary focus on stroke, neurosurgery, epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, and other neurological diagnoses
    • Perform IV starts and continuous telemetry monitoring, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
    • Utilize unit systems including EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR for documentation and communication
    • Work every other weekend as required; make up any missed weekend shifts based on unit needs
    • Float to other Medical Surgical / Telemetry areas as needed, which may include COVID care units
    • Complete a 36-hour unit orientation prior to independent practice
    Required Qualifications
    • Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
    • Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year of direct Medical Surgical experience
    • Med/Surg Neuro experience required
    • Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
    • BCLS certification required
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
    • Must have completed at least 2 prior successful travel contracts — first-time travelers will not be considered
    • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
    • Local candidates are welcome; a reduced rate applies for candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • ACLS certification (preferred, not required)
    • Experience in a neuro-focused or stroke unit setting
    • Familiarity with Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) workflows
