Job Title

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (ED Holding / Float Pool)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Every other weekend required | Holidays required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to adult medical/surgical patients in an inpatient holding area located within the Emergency Department, supporting patients awaiting inpatient bed placement
• Manage MS/Tele patient assignments at ratios of 1:6–1:7, with potential PCU-level patients at ratios of 1:3–1:4
• Float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed within and near the facility
• Operate standard unit equipment including cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and other monitoring systems; utilize Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR for medication administration, documentation, and communication
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments; may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
• Maintain readiness for high-acuity, fast-paced patient care with high patient turnover

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state (pending licensure considered for submission)
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• MS/Tele and ED holding experience required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Must be available to work holidays (expected to work 2 of 3 major holidays per contract)
• Local candidates are welcome and will be considered at the applicable local rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• CPI certification preferred
• Experience with PCU-level patients
• Familiarity with Epic EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment with high patient turnover
