Key Responsibilities
- Float between Medical Surgical units, Stepdown (IMCU), Intermediate Rehab Unit (IRU), and ED Holding, providing inpatient nursing care across varying acuity levels
- Deliver direct patient care for a diverse caseload including post-surgical, orthopedic, cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, dialysis, palliative, hospice, and oncology patients
- Monitor and manage patients on remote telemetry (MedSurg) and bedside telemetry (Stepdown), including reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips on the Stepdown unit
- Titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin on the Stepdown unit; administer Heparin and comfort-measure drips on MedSurg units
- Manage patients on BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow oxygen in coordination with Respiratory Therapy
- Adhere to unit-specific scrub color requirements (Navy Blue) and comply with all infection control protocols, including comfort with simultaneous assignment to both isolation and non-isolation patient cohorts on MedSurg
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in Pennsylvania
- BLS certification required for all units
- ACLS certification required for Stepdown/Telemetry assignment
- NIHSS certification required for Stepdown/Telemetry assignment
- Ability and comfort to float across MedSurg, Stepdown, Rehab, and ED Holding environments
- Comfort with simultaneous care of both isolation and non-isolation patients as required on MedSurg units
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a float pool or multi-unit setting across varying acuity levels
- Experience reading and interpreting cardiac telemetry strips
- Familiarity with Cerner EMR (facility is transitioning to Epic)
- Experience managing cardiac drips and caring for high-acuity stepdown patients including dysrhythmias, CVA, and ICU downgrades
