Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, psychological, and social needs upon admission and develop individualized written care plans within 24 hours.
- Implement and continuously evaluate plans of care, revising documentation in the medical record at least every 24 hours to reflect patient progress and outcomes.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with therapeutic standards, infection-control protocols, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition, initiate appropriate interventions, and maintain accurate documentation; must be able to read and interpret heart rhythms and pass a dysrhythmia test prior to working on the floor.
- Provide ongoing patient and family education regarding disease process, medications, self-care skills, and discharge needs in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Delegate tasks to and evaluate ancillary team members while maintaining professional nursing standards and participating in unit-based performance improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Active Michigan RN license (verified Active status via LARA and/or Nursys required).
- Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required.
- Active American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification required.
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience required.
- Experience floating to a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) required.
- Proficiency with telemetry monitoring and ability to read and interpret heart rhythms required.
- COVID-19 vaccination required; exemptions considered.
- Current skills checklist (within the last year, pertinent to Med Surg/Tele), 2 supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years, and complete work history required at time of submission.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a sole community hospital or similar setting serving diverse patient populations across multiple acuity levels.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize care effectively in a high-volume inpatient environment.
- Strong patient and family education skills with a focus on discharge planning and care coordination.
