Contract (13 or 26 weeks) | Nights (4x12 Hours, 19:00–07:30) | 36 or 48 hours/week options available | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care on a fast-paced, 45-bed medical/surgical trauma unit serving hemodynamically and medically stable patients admitted from the emergency department, transferred from the ICU, or admitted from surgical/procedural services
- Manage acute and chronic needs of trauma patients, including administration of IV drips (required on all floors)
- Document patient care and assessments using EPIC electronic health records (required)
- Float within scope to meet facility staffing needs across various units and campuses as directed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams including CNAs, care techs, transport teams, paramedics, and LPNs where assigned
- Meet weekend and holiday requirements: expected 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period (Friday night and Saturday night for nights); expected to work 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
Required Qualifications
- Active or pending Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska (pending license accepted; if not in hand at time of submission, start date will be scheduled approximately six weeks out)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital setting required
- Proficiency with IV drip management required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates will not be considered
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center (may be considered in lieu of prior travel experience for first-time travelers)
- Familiarity with trauma or acute medical/surgical patient populations
- Ability to adapt quickly in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment with frequent floating expectations
