Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Neuro Cardiac Unit)

Contract | 13 Weeks | Full-Time | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Neuro Cardiac Med/Surg/Tele unit serving complex patient populations including post cardiac cath with interventions, CVA/TIA, ICD, complex abdominal surgeries, oncology, and post-craniotomy patients
- Perform NIHSS assessments, dysphagia screenings, and strong neurological assessments as core unit functions
- Interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs; initiate and titrate drips including insulin, cardiac, and heparin infusions
- Perform heart cath recovery including femoral and TR band management
- Float within skillset to a secondary campus location with a minimum of 2 hours notice; mid-shift float within the same campus is also possible
- May be required to precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility
Required Qualifications
- Current, active RN Compact License
- AHA BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum of two years of strong Telemetry / Med-Surg experience
- At least one prior travel assignment required
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
- Must pass facility telemetry competency testing
- Candidates must reside at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with NG/PEG tube management
- Proficiency in peripheral IV insertion
- Familiarity with Tikosyn dosing and chest tube management
- Demonstrated adaptability, strong work ethic, and ability to manage change in a dynamic unit environment
