Contract | Rotating Days and Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts | Day: 07:00–19:30 / Night: 19:00–07:30 | Every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit serving an adult and geriatric population under a Family Medicine service with a variety of conditions and diagnoses
- Care for patients in a specialized locked wing that may include Department of Corrections patients; staff are always accompanied by a corrections officer when assisting these patients
- Perform IV insertions and manage peripheral IV access as a routine component of patient care
- Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms, including identification of lethal arrhythmias; passing a telemetry competency exam prior to start is required
- Float to other units as needed based on staffing requirements
- Document all patient care accurately using an electronic health record system
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- BLS certification required – American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care inpatient RN experience within the last 3 years in Medical Surgical/Telemetry
- Demonstrated experience starting IVs required
- EPIC electronic health record experience required
- Must pass a telemetry competency exam (adult and pediatric components) prior to start; passing criteria include 100% identification of lethal rhythms and an overall score of 80% or higher
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for geriatric patient populations
- Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Experience working in a high-acuity or complex inpatient environment
