    Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

    Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts | Onsite | Every other weekend required | Holidays required | Expected 36 hours/week or 36/48 hours bi-weekly based on facility needs | Block scheduling cannot be accommodated

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a 25-bed Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit with patient ratios of 5–6:1, managing common diagnoses including CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, CKD, and general med/surg telemetry cases
    • Read and interpret telemetry strips independently; telemetry monitor techs are present but RNs are responsible for strip reading
    • Titrate Heparin drips as needed; manage patients on CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy
    • Float to all med/surg units and potentially to the PCU to care for telemetry holds awaiting transfer
    • Collaborate with Charge Nurses, House Supervisors, and Nurse Educators to support unit operations and patient safety
    • Document using the Paragon charting system, with a transition to EPIC expected in October 2026
    Required Qualifications
    • Active RN license valid in Texas (or compact eligibility)
    • Minimum 18 months of recent Medical Surgical/Telemetry experience
    • BLS certification required
    • ACLS certification required
    • Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
    • Strong communication and time management skills; must be a collaborative team player adaptable to a rural hospital environment
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Prior experience working in a rural hospital setting
    • Familiarity with Heparin drip titration and management of respiratory support patients (CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow)
    • Experience with Paragon or EPIC electronic health record systems
