Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care in a Telemetry/Med-Surg setting with a patient ratio of 1:4, serving an adolescent through geriatric population
- Manage general medical-surgical patients as well as moderate volume orthopedic surgical cases, including total joint procedures and simple gynecological procedures (e.g., hysterectomies, myomectomies)
- Perform cardiac monitoring duties including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, on-unit telemetry monitoring, and remote telemetry monitoring; ability to read rhythm strips is required
- Administer and manage IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and heparin protocols; manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
- Provide respiratory and thoracic care including management of chest tubes, external CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway management; ventilator experience is required
- Provide every-other-weekend coverage; may float as needed; no on-call requirement
Required Qualifications
- Active California RN license required at time of submission
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required; minimum 2 years of Telemetry experience required
- Ventilator (vent) experience is a hard requirement
- Total joint orthopedic experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHS)
- Must successfully pass an Advanced EKG exam (onsite, 80% minimum passing score, two attempts permitted) prior to start; failure results in assignment cancellation
- Local candidates are accepted at the travel rate
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with pre/post cardiac angiogram, pre/post cardiac catheterization, and pre/post cardiac surgery care
- Familiarity with rapid response team protocols and emergency response procedures
- Experience with simple gynecological surgical procedures (hysterectomies, myomectomies)
