Travel Nurse RN - Med/Surg / Telemetry in Evansville, IN

Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care on a high-acuity cardiac/renal medical-surgical telemetry unit (41 beds) with a patient population that includes Afib with RVR, atrial flutter, heart blocks, CHF, COPD, sepsis, post-ablation, dialysis, BH/CIWA, and heart cath without interventions. Float within skillset to affiliated campuses with a minimum of 2 hours notice for cross-campus float; mid-shift float within the same campus is also possible.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a high-acuity cardiac/renal medical-surgical telemetry unit (41 beds) with a patient population that includes Afib with RVR, atrial flutter, heart blocks, CHF, COPD, sepsis, post-ablation, dialysis, BH/CIWA, and heart cath without interventions
• Perform telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKG interpretation; travelers are expected to pass telemetry competency testing
• Initiate and titrate drips including antiarrhythmics, Heparin, aminophylline, Cardizem, Tikosyn, and Amiodarone; manage stable drips such as Lasix and Protonix
• Perform PIV insertion and manage chest tubes, indwelling drains, CBI, and nephrostomy tubes
• Float within skillset to affiliated campuses with a minimum of 2 hours notice for cross-campus float; mid-shift float within the same campus is also possible
• May be required to precept students and new hires at this teaching facility

Required Qualifications

• Active, current Compact RN License required
• AHA BLS certification required
• AHA ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of strong cardiac/telemetry experience; at least 1 prior travel assignment and Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
• Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage high-acuity, rapidly changing patient conditions
• Experience initiating and titrating a broad range of cardiac drips and antidysrhythmic medications
• Demonstrated adaptability, resilience, and ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented unit culture
• Experience in a teaching hospital environment, including precepting students or new staff
