Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care across all types of med/surg patients, including post-operative surgical (hips/knees) and potential overflow psych patients on a 24-bed unit
- Maintain patient ratios of 4–5:1 while delivering safe, high-quality nursing care
- Administer and monitor heparin drips and other ordered medications and treatments
- Utilize remote telemetry tech monitoring and document care accurately using EPIC EMR
- Serve in a charge nurse capacity as needed and float across multiple campuses within the regional health system
- Adhere to holiday coverage expectations, including working 1–2 of the upcoming winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) unless the unit is closed
Required Qualifications
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
- Minimum 24 months of current Med/Surg or Med/Surg Telemetry experience
- Charge nurse experience required
- BLS certification from AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Experience caring for post-operative surgical patients (hips/knees) required
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (verified by driver's license)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for psychiatric patients (unit may receive overflow psych patients)
- Preceptor experience
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months
- Willingness and ability to extend beyond the initial 13-week contract
