Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive med/surg nursing care to a diverse patient population across all patient types on an active telemetry unit
- Maintain patient ratios of 4–5:1 in a 15-bed unit setting
- Administer and monitor heparin drips and other medications per facility protocol
- Utilize remote telemetry monitoring in coordination with the tele tech team
- Float across multiple campuses as required to support patient care needs
- May serve in a charge nurse or preceptor capacity as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
- BLS certification through AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) required
- Minimum 24 months of recent Med/Surg or Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
- Must have completed at least one travel contract within the previous 18 months — first-time travelers are not accepted
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR required
- Experience with heparin administration required
- Charge nurse experience required
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (based on driver's license)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Telemetry and/or cardiac nursing background highly preferred
- Preceptor experience is a plus
- Openness to extending beyond the initial 13-week contract is strongly preferred
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, or director within the past 24 months preferred
