Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit, maintaining a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Care for general and orthopedic trauma stepdown patients including those with chest tubes, drains, wound vacs, and peritoneal dialysis needs
- Read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips and monitor patients on GE telemetry equipment with central monitoring station support
- Administer and titrate cardiac drips including Amiodarone and Cardizem (titration down only)
- Float to MedSurg Telemetry units as needed
- Fulfill weekend shift requirements: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period, plus one major and one minor holiday
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RN experience (within the past 6 months)
- Must successfully pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start (maximum of 2 attempts, within 48 hours of offer)
- Must pass a pass/fail Simulation Lab on day one of orientation (study guides provided)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for COVID-positive or infectious disease patient populations
- Familiarity with CPAP and ventilator-adjacent patient management
- Experience with wound vacs, chest tubes, and surgical drains
- Comfort using Spectralink phone systems and integrated call light technology
